Every family has a story shaped not only by names and dates, but by perseverance, sacrifice, and unwavering hope. The story of the Abaluna family begins with our beloved ancestors, Catalino Abaluna and Enriquita Yanson, whose lives laid the foundation for generations that would follow.

In the quiet farming town of Valladolid, Negros Occidental, they built a modest home where faith, diligence, and family were the greatest treasures. Though material wealth was scarce, they nurtured their children with values that would endure far beyond their own lifetime—honesty, resilience, compassion, and an unyielding commitment to hard work.

Fate, however, tested the family early. Their children were orphaned while still young, a hardship that could have defined their future. Instead, it became the crucible in which their strength was forged. Through determination and courage, they transformed adversity into opportunity, carrying forward the dreams their parents had begun.

Their eldest daughter, Estrella Abaluna Valdez (1936– ), embraced new horizons and eventually established a life in the United States, carrying with her the enduring spirit of her parents and the values of her Filipino heritage.

Their son, Maximo Y. Abalona (1939–2022), built his family’s future in Bulacan. Remembered for his perseverance and steadfast devotion to his loved ones, he exemplified the quiet strength and integrity that have become hallmarks of the Abaluna name.

The youngest, Gerson Y. Abaluna (1944–2017), pursued opportunities beyond his hometown, building his career in Quezon City before answering the call of many Filipinos who sought brighter futures abroad. As an Overseas Filipino Worker in Saudi Arabia, his sacrifices reflected the courage and selflessness shared by countless Filipino families whose love for home transcends distance.

Although their lives followed different paths and reached distant places—from the sugar lands of Negros to Bulacan, Quezon City, Saudi Arabia, and the United States—they remained forever connected by the same roots planted by Catalino and Enriquita.

Today, the Abaluna family spans continents and generations, yet our story remains one of unity. We honor not only the accomplishments of those who came before us but also the character with which they faced life’s greatest challenges. Their legacy reminds us that true wealth is found in family, perseverance, integrity, faith, and the willingness to uplift one another.
